Tourism Australia is Interested

I have had a great couple of weeks!

Last week started with a trip to Sydney to talk with Tourism Australia about this great bike ride! They are impressed and have agreed to lend us some support, which is great news for the ride and the regions we will be travelling through! More about that later...

I got home from Sydney to the Tour Down Under - what a great event, South Australia was a-buzz with cycling, it was great. I had the opportunity to spend time with the crew from Avanti Bicycles and also from Shimano; both of these great organisations do a lot for cycling in Australia and New Zealand and it is great to have friends and colleagues like them. I will be telling you more about these great companies in coming posts

If you are thinking about riding one or two stages of this ride or the whole ride for that matter subscribe to this blog to keep up to date, it will be a great event!

Getting excited!

Hi everyone!

I've just returned from a break of a couple of much-needed days - returning to my hometown of Wollongong, NSW to catch up with my family and friends for a late Christmas and catching up on some birthday celebrations!

Back in the office, I'm starting to become pretty excited about the scope of this event. The Great Outback Bike Ride for 2007 is such a unique concept, combining Trains, Pubs and Bones (I'm particularly excited about the middle one!) with some of the most amazing landscapes in the country.

Looking at some of the photos (I think they're similar to the ones Ben has posted below) we really are going to be going to some of the most interesting little nooks and crannies of Oz.

The richest postcode QLD, the lizard-racing capital of the world, the home of the stockman, the birthplace of legendary ballads, gorges, vast plains, rivers, and so much more!

The more I uncover about the places we'll be visiting in this ride, the more I can't wait to ride through them!

And of course, everything is better on a bike so that'll make it even more memorable.

I've been working on the new Outbike brochure which will be getting out to bike shops and outdoor stores soon, as well as being posted to everyone on our mailing list.

If you don't think you're on our list and would like us to send you the brochure, email us at info@outbike.com.au and we can get one your way.

Till next time, happy pedalling...
